first question:
those who have/had a guitar with a matte finish, how is it standing up? im considering actually making the switch but this is my one worry. all i have are gloss finish guitars and im curious. If there was a gloss black option for BOP ida switched long ago haha
Second Question:
does anyone know how to turn a matte finish into a gloss? if a matte finish doesnt last long, such as ive seen in pistures from a previous post i want to know there is a back-up option.

If the pictures you're referring to are mine, I think it's a one off thing. No one else with it on the forum seems to have the problem.

I'm considering the same thing, turning it into a gloss finish. Because, really, it's a minor issue, and I don't see the point in shipping it back to the states any more.

so to make the change im assuming youd have to go to someone who does paint work?

Probably not.

If I could find the post, I'd quote it, but someone has managed to buff off the matte finish in a few spots, where his picking hand rests, and around the tone/volume knobs.

Maybe just start rubbing with a chamois/something similar, or get a dremel or something with a buffing bit? I imagine it'd be hard to get a consistent finish doing it this way though, and the finish might suffer for it, seeing as you'll probably have taken the protective coat off it.

Simple re-spray with hard wearing gloss clear coat? It wouldn't be a deep black, but you might get some sheen out of it.

I'm going to have a bit of a trawl through the interwebs now, actually, looking for people who have done the some thing.

I'll throw anything i find up here.

EDIT: I've actually been considering a complete re-paint. Digital camouflage, or urban camouflage ala Jeff Hannemans gear. But I have no idea where to even start, so I'm leaving that alone for the time being until I've done a** loads of research.

yeah if i knew how to do airbrush, of even how to properly paint a guitar id want to do a blood splatter effect. but anyways i have done some looking but all i can find are acoustic buff jobs which dont really amount to what this is.

Ive only had my Matte black DBZ for a short period of time but havent noticed any rub marks or anything, I will let you know in future if anything does happened but as mentioned above, the rubbings may have only been a one off.

to make a flat finish gloss you need to buff it.

I recommend a buffing compound (duh) preferably a carnuba wax and I use an old cotton T shirt. it will take a while.

I would buff it gloss, then wet sand with 1500 grit sand paper (from you local autozone or advance) and wetsand it back to flat, then buff BY HAND again. Using a buffer will get messy and will more than likely burn through spots.

Good luck.
