For a bit of time in the late 90's early 2000's, some of the Deans were produced in the Czech. They then eventually were built in Korea and then China. From what I have ever read, the quality was a bit higher and they tend to go for a few dollars more than the Korea/China models on the used market. I think they also came with the Duncan Pearly Gates pickups. If you can get it for a fair price (500 would prob be the high side) I had one of the first generation Korea Evo's and it was a great guitar. I should have kept it, but that's another story.

I'd guess mahogany like todays are as I couldn't see anything exotic being used.
