"Darrell had such an impact on my life both personally and professionally.

Five years later, there is really nothing to say that hasn’t already been said.

I remain a fan...he remains my friend."

I wish he was still here to rock a Bird of Prey! It might just be me being a Texas boy, but I can't get enough Dime. He makes me wanna play guitar. I remember exactly one year after he died my school had a snow day, so I swore to practice all day...It's like he was giving me an opportunity to refine my shredding!
EAR-SHOT
Riff in Peace Dimebag!
He was and always will be a huge inspiration and the best guy on earth!!! Never forgotten!!!

CHEERS BRO!!!

Being in Oklahoma, I was exposed to "Diamond" Darrell from the very beginning. I had just got my first Dean Guitar, a Cherryburst ML and the "Projects in the Jungle" album had just hit my local record store. For those that haven't seen it, the cover is a cool cartoon looking painting of Pantera rocking out in front of a bunch of people in the jungle. On it, Darrell is playing a Cherryburst ML. Just seeing that Cherryburst ML is what made me buy the record. I figured anyone that had the same guitar as me had to be cool......... biggrin.gif I was hooked from then on. I still have all the original pre-CFH record albums. Projects in the Jungle, I Am the Night and Power Metal are really great albums, most often overlooked by Pantera fans.

It's a joy to watch him play on youtube...
He was such a beast at what he did, but stayed a normal guy... Nothing cocky about him, and that's what I like about people like that!

I just feel lucky that I got to see him play. It is what I always bring up when people talk about the best shows we've ever seen. Pantera, Exodus and Suicidal Tendencies at the Boston Channel. I had no idea who pantera was before that night, but I sure did afterwards! Thanks for the music Dime.

He was gone before his time =( RIP

And the fact that Dimebag and Pantera still live on are just amazing!
Saw a show 2 weeks ago ( 8 bands, 'twas awesome, Walls of Jericho, Biohazard, Death by Stereo, ...) and Biohazard covered Pantera's Mouth for War, that was so awesome! (well, the fact that it was the only song I knew by heart that entire night might've helped a bit as well teehee.gif ). But it's really cool to see Pantera living through other bands!
bassvamp13
its hard for me to grasp the fact that hes been gone for 5 years now. :(
i never did get the chance to see him live down.gif
he is my all-time favorite guitarist though. he was my inspiration to pick up the guitar, and still is to this day. everytime i hear a dime riff or lick, i get chills down my spine. R.I.P. brother! forever in our hearts!

No other guitar player has had so much influence on my guitar playing like Dimebag has. His playing has always been so unique and powerfull. I have always strived to capture that feeling in my own way and He has Taught me to always be true to the way you express yourself thru your axe. That is something that cant be bought or sold. Thanks Dimebag.

couldnt hae said it better man. i vowed never to own a signature guitar until i saw the razorbacks him and dean designed, and i was sold just like many others all over the world. i know it sounds retarde but since i never had a chance to see him live i feel that owning something he had a hand in designing lets me be as close as ill ever hae a chance to be to the legend. but the man was a god in the music world, not just for his music but his personality and attention given to his fans. RIP DIME!

I think Dean Z. should send a Black Toothed grin to every forum member of age in a plastic cup. Just like Dime drank 'em. R.I.P. "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott

Im very surprised that Dimebags topic in this forum isnt blowing up. I just cant understand how and why anyone that plays guitar cant seem to give him his props besides us!

Whats crazy is chuck schuldiner died on the 13th of December. Decemember isnt a good month for metal guitarists historically. Hope this doesnt bug anyone but I would liek to say RIP to Chuck as well. Never forgotten, I'm sure somewhere they are jamming together thumbsup.gif

Well, before I got the Pantera cd's and even the legendary Rebel Meets Rebel cd (ow yes, a MUST-have!), I looked a lot of youtube films about Dimebag and Pantera, and I saw lots of comments about Pantera being "metal for beginners"-band and nasty things about Dimebag...
While I searched and searched, I couldn't find 1 single thing that there is wrong about Dime! Except for the fact that he now watches us instead of playing for us...
On those DVD-series, he seemed like the average guy... well... I never smashed a car, but that's a detail tongue.gif

i think alot of it has to do with how Dean Guitars whored out Dime's name with all of those signature models. they have like 40 guitars with his name on them. thats a bit much if you ask me, but nonetheless, Dime is my favorite guitarist of all time.

Could be, yeah...
Nonetheless, he's an amazing guitarmaster!

Chuck was also the man! Father of DeathMetal! He was also a very inspiring guitar god. Fate needs to take away lesser guitar players and let God Kings of Metal Rule their kingdoms.

Do you think Darrell would have come over to check DBZ out?

I think he would of

I think he would of

I'm sure, he was a friend of Dean's, if one of my friends would start a guitar label, I'm sure to check it out.
BUT:
1) None of my friends would do that
2) Dean wants to give the quality - WE - want, and that is/should be known!
3) DBZ kicks all other companies their butts, period! (Just give me one example of guitars that look cooler than DBZ which are same/higher quality and in the same pricerange)

Whoever said that s--t about Dime and Pantera can go to hell! Those idiots couldnt touch Dimes talent. Also, I think his name was taken advantage of after his passing, which is b------t! We all admired him but that does not give everybody the right to gain from his death. Respect the man and his legacy. Thats it and thats all.

Dimebag Darrell.... my favorite guitar player of all times!!! .... I used to listen to radio stations in my country.... and listening to jazz and blues for about 7 years.... I always wanted to learn electric guitar , but couldn't afford one so when i became 18 years old i bought my new guitar and started listening to metal music and though I was pretty old to start listening to metal music and playing electric guitar I kept on melting it and trying to get better ....my metal music story started with the best way ever..... first metal song i have ever heard was WALK - PanterA ..... From that moment I felt that Dimebag Darrell was the person that inspired me to start my own guitar face melting story .... so then started learing all his songs ...reading everywhere about him and I came to the conclusion that Darrell is the best guitarist ever ... with so much feeling in his playing and he is not just that... He is the most amazing person!!! I remember that Pantera where about to come and play live in my country, but he never came.... then when they anounched about what happened to him... I grabbed a razor neckless like the one he was wearing and i never take it off .... wearing it all day long on his memory...

Why all the good guys die young sad.gif ???

I hope he is having a great time in Heaven where he belongs and give a nice Guitar Face meltdown to everyones faces in heaven !!!! HE IS THE BEST EVER!!!! Cause it is not only important to be an awesome guitarist.... but being an awesome person.... well I think that takes you as a guitarist known to the world to another much higher level.... and Darrell did that!!! HIS IS THE MAN!!!

Hahaha .... I am just thinking of Darrell now having his Dean guitar in front of God and playing ....and God feels jelious cause doesn't have a Dean guitar PLUS Dimebag Darrell guitar skillz !!! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Rest In Peace Darrell !!!
