It's been confirmed that Dean Guitars has discontinued the soltero and is going to be replacing it with the Deceiver with the same "Bust".

yeah saw the razorbacks and theyve crossed the line to being an emberassment, (if they havet already) but ive already given up on them so it dont matter :p

That was Dean Z's design anyways so if you want one, you know where to find one! Personally, their line-up for this year is total a** (Impellitteri guitar? ). Are they TRYING to run the company in to the ground? I absolutely can't believe they went there with the Blacktooth amp? WTF?

You can totally see a difference in Dean Z's involvement and now lack of. I've completed lost any respect for Dean Guitars now and my money is going to DBZ (The REAL Dean Guitars).

Hello all, formerly "bigjoe" at the dean forum! That 2010 line was the last straw for me. I'm no longer a Dean Forum member. THE END IS NEAR INDEED.

Been lurking here for a while and thought I'd chime in. First off, that whole line up is horrible. Atrocious is a good word for it. Deceiver? C'mon, it just does not compare to the Soltero and certainly nothing comparted to the DBZ Bolero (OMG!). That Deceiver is a poorly designed guitar and it looks like cheap crap.

Isn't the Deceiver just a re-branded EVO? Also, whats up with the BC Rich headstock looking bass, as well as the Dean Fender Telecaster knockoff? Also, I understand wanting to keep the memory of Dime alive, but damn, how many Dime guitars can there possibly be and now Dime amps? Pretty soon someone will be taking a shat in a box and stamping Dime on it. The whole lineup has turned to the signature series of yesteryear. I used to have a lot of respect for Dean Guitars as they were the first guitars I bought when I started playing. When I sold my first Dean on ebay, there were only about 160 Dean auctions going, now it's just flooded. Their moto should be, "its not the quality of guitars we sell that's important, but the quantity of guitars we sell". Zelinkski, Please never take this path!

Kinda sorta....if you look at those lunas what they have done is "frankensteined" bits and pieces of guitars with each other and hot damn, you get the Deceiver. Don't even get me started on the dime thing. I honestly felt ill when I saw that amp.

I love my Deans, but since Dean Z left, it's just not the same. My guess is the decision makers over there don't even play the guitar, hence the steaming dung pile that is their 2010 collection. Whatever happened to just making cool guitars?

Baahh gave up on dean guitars long ago, forum sucks, just a bunch of old pricks who complain when someone just wants to learn and try get advice, they were labeled as "12 yr old dime sheep" i hate how i used to get treated over there and no one likes to be proved wrong, all hell breaks loose if you so much as give an opinion on something that people feel sensitive about (im razorv over at dean forum) i once started a thread with the title "why is everyone so obsessed with dimes crappy tone" and i got a** raaped, hell, someone even got the thread title changed!! Crappy was removed! I asked a question and gave an opinion and all i got was smart a**' givin me lip tellin me "your wrong, dime had the best tone in world" which is fair enough if it was actually an opinion but its just where someones jumped on the bandwagon on dimes tone HA. That aside there were some cool people there but im done with that place, theyll be flushed down the tubes in no time

Darrel abbott played a mean guitar but his tone was pretty bad until he switched to krank. His problem was definately the randall heads he was using.

Yep that is nothing even close to impressive from Dean Guitars and I once had a love for them =/

LOL@ Dave paying out the Explorer shape I bet only because Hetfield uses a Explorer shape guitar he says that about them and why the Dean Zero is better. Good musician can't say I tolerate him though.

Only positive thing I can say from their line up from NAMM this year is that the graphics on the Dime Biomehcanical are kickass!

Yep....I can't count how many times I've seen threads just disappear or get deleted over voicing the same stuff. You can't even mention Dean's name or DBZ there without it getting removed. People are loyal, I get that but damn, anyone that doesn't see the difference here and what they are doing there is just blind. Just sayin!

Did Mustaine actually refer to Metallica or the explorer with the dean zero?
I never liked Deans myself, i was a gibson guy as a rhythm player but my brother (lead player) liked MLs but never bought one coz they're just too expensive for what they are, but we've since both converted to DBZ as soon as we saw em. I didn't really like the soltero for some reason but the way the Boleros are made esp. the Baneret, i can't wait to get my hands on one.

Basically, he really needs to stop the whole fued thing. It seems Lars and the guys couldn't give a s*** any more.

The new Dean line is truly... not Dean! Or at least what I thought Dean was a couple of years ago.

This is a quote from the new Dime Blacktooth Amp...."• Dime's Infamous Tone" now is it just me or is infamous not the best word to describe something your selling? from my knowledge infamous means something that is famous for doing some bad.....so what are they saying? that they are selling an amp that has a tone that is famous for being bad??

Btw i am in no way implying dime had aweful tone...however i do not think he has anything close to the best guitar tone (my opinion)

I understand what your getting at with the whole infamous thing. I think they are trying to make it sound more "metal". Because they think everyone who listens to metal is ignorant or something? I mean look at the lyrics of alot of metal and you'll find some pretty deep and intelligent writing.


Also I don't care if your someone who liked his tone or didn't. Theres no way you can get his tone out of a 20watt 1x10 amp. The rig he used has been printed in guitar world magazine a few times and is relatively inexpensive to replicate almost exactly. I don't think any of the gear he used isn't produced today really either exactly or in a slightly modified form.

Didn't Dime ( R.I.P ) use the Krankenstein at the end?

PS! I love his sound, but I never had the chance to go see him live, so I can only talk about the studio-recordings, but that might not sound like his live sound at all after being mixed and prossesed? Not sure about the lingo here :P ( Im Norwegian hehe )

Ya before the krankenstein he used randall SS heads that arent too pricy to buy for probably over 80-90% of his career. The krankenstein is pricy to buy but it was by far his best tone in my opinion. I think they are trying to to recreate his randall/warhead tones.

He never saw the krankenstein, he only used the Rev1

I believe the last amp he used was a modified rev1 that would be the prototype of the krankenstein.

I know, he has nothing to be jealous of. Megadeth is an awesome band with a sook for a frontman, shame that Dave is like that.

Yeah, even though with alot of bands their music can be killer, but as far as seeing alot of how they act as ppl rather than musicians...it's kind of disapointing.

I'm not sure why people are surprised that Dave acts the way he does. It's just the man's personality. It's never changed and I'm sure it never will. Dave=Turmoil, but regardless good talent.

Dave had a pretty horrible childhood etc so I agree it's no wonder why he acts the way he does. At least he has the talent to back up the rock star attitude, unlike lars ulrich

The man used to sell drugs, now he's the man shredding his a** off on stage that wants to go back to "then" (Metallica back in the days).
Anyways, I'm glad he's the man he is, and he puts it in his music!

Soltero discontinued, Bolero still going. I guess we know who owned the design! Maybe there was some agreement that they could build it thru 2009? Anybody know?
